How to move Mastercam files to another PC

To move Mastercam files, posts, libraries etc., to another PC is a simple three step process.

Typical files to move:

  • Posts (machine and controls)
  • Tool library’s
  • Operation default files

To move Mastercam files:

  1. On the old PC right click on the C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared Mcam20XX) folder and then “send to compressed zip”.
  2. Then copy that zip to a flash drive/network location.
  3. On the new PC – take just the contents of the folders below and copy and paste them in the corresponding folders on new PC (Note: if asked, click “copy and replace”).
File Locations:
  • Tools.
    • C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared Mcam20XX\mill, lathe, wire, router\Tools
  • Posts
    • C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared Mcam20XX\ mill, lathe, wire, router \Posts
  • Machine and control defs.
    • C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared Mcam20XX\CNC_MACHINES
    • C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared Mcam20XX\CNC_MACHINES
  • Operation default files
    •  C:\Users\Public\Documents\Shared Mastercam 20XX\mill\Ops

That’s all it takes to move your Mastercam files!
